Boiler Grants – background

Grants for free boilers - Government boiler grantsGovernment-backed Boiler grants are available under the Government-backed Energy Company Obligation (ECO). The ECO gas boiler grant scheme is aimed at tackling fuel poverty in vulnerable sections of society across the UK.  In addition the boiler grant scheme is designed to reduce the levels of carbon emissions being released into the environment  by providing energy-efficient gas condensing boilers, which use less energy to heat your home and your hot water.

The Boiler Grants also mean savings of up to £300 per year as heating bills are reduced after the boilers are installed in homes. The boilers carry an A Graded rating in terms of energy-efficiency.
Installing a new energy efficient boiler means that your central heating and hot water is heated more cheaply and uses less gas, so reduces your home energy costs. The free boilers available via the boiler grant scheme are  energy efficient gas condensing boilers with an A grading according to SEDBUK, the official energy performance rating guidelines for boilers and central heating systems in the UK.

Boiler grants – energy efficiency

Boiler grants scheme - energy efficient boilersEnergy efficient boilers are one of the main ways to cut down energy usage in the home. Up to 60% of your gas bill is spent on powering your boiler and central heating system. If your boiler is old there is a chance that you are wasting a huge chunk of your money.

In Scotland the new ECO boiler grant scheme has been put in place to address energy wastage, which affects the environment, in turn causing unnecessarily high domestic energy bills.

Boiler grants – benefits and savings

Boilers account for 55 – 60 % of your annual heating / energy bills, so installing an energy efficient boiler can mean huge energy savings.

  • Boiler grants help reduce the cost of energy bills meaning significant savings
  • Boiler grants reduce harmful Carbon Dioxide emissions being released into the environment
  • Getting a boiler grant includes an up-to-date Energy Performance Certificate for your home
  • Boilers surveyed, supplied and installed free of cost meaning huge initial and annual savings

Condensing gas boilers

Energy Saving gas Condensing Boiler

The Free boilers supplied and fitted under the energy saving scheme are gas condensing boilers. Condensing boilers are designed to heat water with high efficiency. This is achieved by using the waste heat to pre-heat the cold water as it enters the boiler.

Condensing boilers may be fueled by gas or oil and are called condensing boilers because the steam produced during combustion is condensed into water, which leaves the system via drainage.
